3D modelling packages:
While studying Technology and Design within school, you will be introduced to one or more 3D modelling packages such as 'Pro Desktop' or 'SolidWorks'.
These packages will be used for you to design a 3D model of your product. However, using software of this type means that after creating the model, you can easily create the orthographic drawings to go along with it. Although the process involved with doing this differs from programme to programme you will end up with similar results regardless.
Below is a video tutorial on how to transfer your 3D drawing into a professional looking orthographics projection on 'SolidWorks'

More likely:
Although you will use these types of software, it is more likely that you will create hand drawn orthographic sketches. These are similar to orthographic projections but are not as detailed. They usually include dimensions, details or enlarged cross sections to show extra information, cross section views to show hidden detail and information labels for materials, joints and finishes.
As you can see from the sketches above, they are simply the object, or parts of the object drawn from various angles so that the product makes more sense to the view.
Underneath is a video helping to explain how to creat your very own hand drawn orthographic projections.
You will need:
- A sharp pencil
- Drawing board if possible
- Ruler/ Steel Rule
- Set Square
